Painting Concrete Floor Tips
Painting concrete floors is not something you get to do easily. It requires careful planning and preparation and usually takes some time. First, you need to prepare the floor before even painting it. Preparation includes degreasing, cleaning, repairing, priming and sealing. This needs a lot of materials for the entire process.
Older homes may have cracks or rough patches on some parts of the floor. If your floor needs a little smoothening on top, concrete compound will provide you with that smooth surface. You can buy a can of this from your local hardware store. The concrete compound comes with simple instructions for mixing. You should let your floor dry first before you start painting- which is the exciting part of the job.
When choosing color or paint for your flooring, buy epoxy-based floor paint. You can add a glossy finish that looks good and protects the floor from any abrasion. Remember, do not leave your floor area to be just plain. You can absolutely decorate it with various patterns and colors.
